You and your partner will research a climate zone and create a PPT presenting your research to the class.
Your PPT needs to include the following: 1. What is the climate like? 2. Vegetation a. Grasses, trees, shrubs, fungus, lichen 3. Temperature (in F and not C) 4. Precipitation (inches of rain and/or snow) 5. What are the abiotic (non-living) factors like? (i.e. Rocky, Snowy, Windy, Icy…) 6. What is the biota (living) like? (i.e. Plants, animals like mammals, insects, birds, reptile) 7. Example geographic locations (minimum 2) 8. A map with your location highlighted 9. Why someone should visit your climate zone? |
_Answer the following questions:
1. What is a hurricane? 2. What is needed for the formation of a hurricane? 3. How do they form? 4. Where do they form? 5. What can make a hurricane lose its power? 6. What are the stages in the development of a hurricane? 7. What are the categories of hurricanes and their corresponding wind speeds? 8. What is the most surprising thing you learned about hurricanes? 9. Has there ever been a hurricane named after you? When was it and what was its path? 10. Why was Katrina such a devastating storm? |

Done with your Research?
When you have done your research...try the game below. You should keep at it until you finally create a Cat 5 Hurricane. http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/HAW2/pdf/canelab.htm Then try this game where you will practice steering hurricanes. Can you make a hurricane hit our area? http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/HAW2/english/kids/movncane.htm |
